Mike Nixon is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a results-oriented approach to therapy. He specializes in using evidence-based treatments rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and integrates Existential-Humanism to foster growth and insight through practical strategies. His aim is to help clients lead more meaningful and well-balanced lives.
With over a decade of clinical experience, Mike has honed his skills in both inpatient and outpatient settings, focusing on the treatment of anxiety-related disorders and depression. His expertise extends to successfully supporting clients with a range of behavioral health issues, including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Mike earned his Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University in Pittsburgh after a 15-year career as a photojournalist. He is passionate about making a positive impact in his patients’ lives, working with individuals—ranging in age from 14 and up—to enhance their functioning across various settings, whether at home, work, school, or in athletic endeavors. Mike’s empathic listening and non-judgmental therapeutic environment empower patients to feel heard and take actionable steps toward solutions.
Outside of his professional life, Mike is passionate about spending time with his family, staying active through exercise, and both coaching and playing baseball.
