Dr. Aurora Newman

Pre-Licensed Post-Doctoral Psychologist

Aurora Newman is a pre-licensed post doctoral psychologist who specializes in treating OCD and anxiety related disorders. She has training and experience in evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention for adults.

Aurora earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University; she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Rochester. She completed her pre-doctoral internship training at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Prior to joining OCD Spectrum, Aurora provided evidence based psychotherapy to Veterans at the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System.

Aurora believes therapy is an active growth process: she emphasizes patient autonomy by providing choice and encouraging active engagement in treatment; provides appropriate structure and feedback during sessions; and conveys compassion and sincerity. Aurora strives to foster patient growth, wellbeing, and healing in her clinical work.

In addition to her clinical work, Aurora enjoys being an adjunct professor and sharing her enthusiasm for the field of psychological science with others.
